Shining Star Kimmoye Waugh

Wow!  This week, nursing student Kimmoye Waugh was recognized by Associate Dean Nancy Gonzalez for her actions during her clinical experience in December.

Wrote Professor Vivalyn Ellis:

Kimmoye was assisting her assigned RN with 4pm vital signs. A patient had just arrived form the emergency department and she proceeded to take his vital signs when she noticed that the patient’s heart rate was 168 and patient verbalized that he was not feeling well. She promptly alerted the primary nurse which resulted in a rapid response call. The patient was subsequently transferred to the ICU.

Staff, fellow classmates and I commended her. Kimmoye has distinguished herself as a keen student of nursing practice by applying concepts taught to clinical scenario she was presented. She is projected to be an asset to the nursing profession.

Congratulations Kimmoye and thank you for your actions, that saved your patient’s life.  THIS IS WHAT THIS FANTASTIC PROFESSION IS ALL ABOUT!
