The Associate Dean heads a team of fourteen full-time faculty, over seventy Adjunct faculty, three lab Managers, and many support staff.
The goal of the department is to create a solid foundation that will prepare students to enter upper-division courses in the General Science and Health Science fields. Some students taking BSC2010L and BSC2011L or CHM2210L and CHM2211L will be introduced to research opportunities guided by experienced faculty to obtain real-life experience in research. In collaboration with the Teacher’s Education Program (TEP), the department offers upper-division courses for individuals enrolled in the Bachelor of Science Education Program which qualifies its graduates to teach biology in grades 6-12. The wellness courses introduce and engage the student in wellness activities that will encourage personal wellness and overall health.
