I’m Fine, Really, I’m Fine.

If you’re a Friends fan, you might remember the episode where Ross is “fine.”

Yesterday, I talked with a friend who didn’t sound good.  I commented on that and she said, “I’m fine.”  And then, “I’m not sleeping, but I’m fine.”

I’m pretty sure she said she was fine at least six times in the first minute we talked.  Her voice seemed to get higher, just like Ross’s, every time she said she was “fine.”  Yep, she was fine.  We actually had a little laugh about it when I called her on the fact that she was totally lying about being fine.

After that, I had a Skype meeting with two colleagues from another department and I could just hear in their voices that they were stressed and overwhelmed.  I could relate.
