Are You Tired of This Yet? March 25, 2020, Update

Hi Everyone!  Are you tired of this yet?  Yesterday, in a meeting, I asked one of the other Academic Deans how it was going with regards to working at home.  He said, “the novelty has worn off.”  My sentiments exactly!

This is my cat, Luna, who was laying next to me during the above referenced meeting.  Have you figured out that I’m a crazy animal person yet?  I am.  Luna came from the Broward County Humane Society, where I volunteer.  She’s one of two old tuxedo cats I’ve added to our little zoo from Broward Humane.  Truth be told, she’s bit of a cranky old lady and I was shocked that she even came to sit with me.  Luna definitely prefers my husband over me.  I was sequestered in our bedroom for a conference call.  With my husband working mostly from home and constantly on the phone (he’s very loud) and four dogs and two cats, I have to find quiet places in the house for remote meetings.

I’m so proud of the way our nursing programs have responded to this situation.  The nursing faculty moved theory classes to a remote environment incredibly quickly, and nursing students jumped right on and continued with their classes.  You are all working hard to learn the material in your theory courses so you are ready to complete the associated clinical/labs when it’s time.

So, what are we doing this summer?  We’ll have a decision for you and a plan on April 2.  AD Gonzalez, AD Ritchie, and every single faculty member understands how worried you are and how anxious you are to move on.  Hopefully, this reduction in classes gives everyone the opportunity to reset and get ready for the future.

So, keep being patient, keep staying in touch, keep studying, keep learning the material.  Above all, STAY SAFE.

  1. Dean Turpel,

Thank you for taking the time to keep us updated despite the difficult circumstances. I know you and the faculty are working hard to ensure that we become nurses one day soon. Thank you for everything that you do, we appreciate you! 🙂
