Contrast Sample Paragraph: A Wedding

Weaved Paragraph (each part and then the result):

Vicki’s storybook wedding turned into a horror novel. Although she reserved the church six months ahead to avoid any conflicts, her ceremony was delayed an hour because a baptism ran late. As a consequence, ninety guests waited outside in the rain. David, her fiancé, did wear the $300 white tuxedo that Vikki had insisted he rent, but he slipped on the wet pavement and soiled both knees. Vicki had spent hours auditioning for a soloist, but the singer went to the wrong church, and so Vicki’s ceremony went on without music. Vicki insisted on two rehearsals because she wanted her walk down the aisle to be confident and graceful. Unfortunately, a flower girl tripped, and her father, who was a little drunk by noon, picked the girl up, tickled her, and sucked at her belly to stop her from crying. Although Vikki had two sessions with a hypnotist to help her overcome her anxiety, she started to hiccup halfway down the aisle, and she hiccupped throughout the ceremony. Vikki spent hours getting all the parents’ blessings, but when the priest asked if anyone present objected to the union, the groom’s mother announced that her son should insist on a prenuptial agreement. Vikki had wanted a really mushy kiss to seal the ceremony, but she had a herpes flare-up and she got only a peck on the cheek.

Split Paragraph (the plan and then the reality):

Vicki’s storybook wedding turned into a horror novel. She reserved the church six months ahead to avoid any conflicts. She spent days searching before she found an elegant white tuxedo that she insisted David rent for $300. Vicki spent hours auditioning for the most talented soloist. Vicki insisted on two rehearsals because she wanted her walk down the aisle to be confident and graceful. Also, she had two sessions with a hypnotist to help her overcome her anxiety. She spent hours getting all the parents’ blessings. Vikki made David promise to give her a really mushy kiss to seal the ceremony. Unfortunately, her ceremony was delayed an hour because a baptism ran late. As a consequence, ninety guests waited outside in the rain. Furthermore, David slipped on the wet pavement outside the church, thus soiling both knees of his white tuxedo. The soloist went to the wrong church, so Vicki’s ceremony went on without music. During the walk down the aisle, a flower girl tripped, and her father, who was a little drunk by noon, picked the girl up, tickled her, and sucked at her belly to stop her from crying. Vicki lost control and started to hiccup halfway down the aisle, and she hiccupped throughout the ceremony. When the priest asked if anyone present objected to the union, David’s mother announced that her son should insist on a prenuptial agreement. To top it all off, Vikki had a herpes flare-up and David could give her only a peck on the cheek after they were pronounced man and wife.
